Hey y’all! My name is Madison and I’m a new blogger. So, a little about me… hmm. I’m 27 years old and from Charleston, South Carolina. My favorite color is beige, and I’m obsessed with cats! I’m in my second semester here at Genesee Community College and live in the dorms at College Village. So far, my experience has been very forthcoming. There’s just something so comforting about knowing you’re where you’re supposed to be! My road to finding GCC has been whimsical. There have been lots of different trial and error scenarios that forced me into really finding myself and my strength as a young woman, and adult, and a human.
Throughout my journey, the biggest piece of personal philosophy I could form was that there’s always a method to the madness. No matter what you’re faced with in life, there’s always a way to make it through. Usually that answer is found through following your intuition and really listening to your heart of hearts. Since everyone’s lives are different, it’s important to remember that your own madness calls for your own methods.
My goal for this blog is to feed you nourishing tools to help you succeed in whatever “madness” you’re faced with. Whether it be researching what foods to eat for optimum memory function or posting about different activities going on throughout the campus, I just want to provide my readers with info to help improve their college experience.
As previously mentioned, I feel that food and recreation really help with the learning process. The food part is pretty self-explanatory in that different foods possess different vitamins which aid in giving different superpowers to your body. Recreation is necessary too because it’s important to balance work and play. Our brains work so hard for us all the time! Why not feed it a little healthy play time every now and then?
Another vital component to your success is encouragement! Having a person or a group of people cheering you on feels so good and makes you want to work hard. It may be out of your comfort zone to go out and meet people who will do that for you, but we are all on the same team at GCC. Going to the campus activities is a great way to meet like minded people… especially if people in your home life aren’t so supportive. Trust me, I’ve felt like the odd ball in my personal life before. I’ve felt like I was alone in wanting to better my life. Coming to GCC has opened so many doors to rooms that I’ve only dreamed about.
No matter your personal situation, remember that being unique is beautiful and the world needs to see it. Could you imagine all the houses in the world being the same white vinyl-sided, one story? How boring would that be? Even our eyes were made to see different color, and so were our hearts. Show your colors to the world… Who knows? You may warm someone’s day!
Well, I suppose that’s a decent introduction for y’all! Have a swell day, and good luck this semester.
