So, we are all here, under one roof at least once a week. Have you ever wondered about what goes on outside of these walls? Perhaps you have a date to prepare for or maybe you just need a break from your math homework… Whatever the case, here is a fine list of the things to do in Batavia.
Oliver’s Candies
Who here likes candy? I know I perked a couple sets of ears up by mentioning sweets. Oliver’s Candies, off of Main Street, is an eye catching maker of chocolates and other various typed of candy. They even do ice cream! I suppose death-by-chocolate isn’t a terrible way to go.
Batavia Downs
Ever wonder what it is like to play at a casino? Wonder no longer thanks to Batavia Downs. Whether you’re looking for something to do all night, or just for a couple hours, Batavia Downs may have just what you need. They also have food so you won’t go hungry.
Mancuso Bowling Center
Bowling is one of my all time favorite recreational activities. Thanks to Mancuso Bowling Center, the residents of Batavia can bowl any time from 9 AM to 11 PM Monday – Friday.
Showtime Batavia
Maybe going to the movies to watch other people engage in all the fun is more your speed. If so, then you’ll be pleased to know that there is a movie theater in Batavia. Since it is only set up for 2 movies, you can catch only the major films that are playing at the time.
Eating good food is my absolute favorite thing to do! Some good restaurants in Batavia include Bourbon and Burger, Main Street Pizza Company, and Alex’s Place. The Mexican restaurant in town is called Rancho Viejo. It’s also a good choice!
Palm Island Indoor Waterpark
Just in case you want to get wet and wild, there is the option to visit Batavia’s indoor waterpark. Remember to pack your own towels and ask about package pricing.
If you venture out just a little and into Buffalo, you will find more things to do.
Martin House Complex – Buffalo, NY
Personally, I’m into architecture. One of the architects I grew up knowing about is Frank Lloyd Wright. His architecture is unique and his modern works are on display throughout the country. Luckily, one of the houses he designed is displayed in Buffalo. It’s called the Martin House Complex. Check it out next time you’re pondering what to do with some of your free time.
The Buffalo Zoo
Going to the zoo always have a way of taking me back to childhood memories. The warm weather, cold snow cones and smells of the exotic animals in the outdoors is something I look forward to when visiting a local zoo. In Buffalo, you can experience all of that on your own. With more than 20 acres of space to work with, the Buffalo Zoo is able to house all types of animals from bison to gorillas and lions! Vote for the zoo the next time your friends are voting on what to do that upcoming weekend.
Well, there you have it. Whether you’re a shy introvert or an outgoing extrovert, you should jump into your life and experience all that it has to offer. Being in college is a once in a lifetime moment that is temporary, therefore we should take advantage of all that encompasses it! Good luck!
